The Great Gatsby – A Strong Love Story

The new film by Baz Luhrmann, starring DiCaprio, is a wonderful movie to enjoy and have fun.

The Great Gatsby returns to the big screen for the second time, the first was in 1974 where Jay Gatsby was interpreted by Robert Redford. Now, in this new version directed by Baz Luhrmann, we see Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby. Each of the actors managed to drew enough drama into their characters, especially DiCaprio.

This adaptation takes place in the summer of 1922, where life is very different as how we know it. The film narrates the story when Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) moves to a house next to the great mansion of Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) a multimillionaire, who wants to meet with Daisy (Carey Mulligan) once more,  the woman he loved but let go, because he join the army. One day Nick is personally invited to one of the parties that Gatsby held every weekend which is weird considering people just show up at the parties. Jay Gatsby is a mysterious man who has it all, however he find himself constantly on the search for love.

Baz Luhrmann takes the decision to experiment with the 3D in this film, what led to this decision was the desire of putting his own touch on the story and using  this technology as nobody has done it before by adding depth of field.

The soundtrack of the film is composed of contemporary songs, created by artists such as Will.i.am, Fergie, Gotye, Beyonce, Florence + The Machine, Lana Del Rey and many others. It’s a risk that any other director wouldn’t taken. The music is a mixture of Jazz and Hip-Hop all playing at the same time.

This production is full of drama, parties, pleasures and glamor. This story will catch your attention and you will have you at the tip of your seat at all times.
